Why I'm building trails at RMR

Hi,

I'm Nate Lott. My vision is to create a mountain bike trail network at Red Mountain Resort (RMR).

Why RMR?

First of all building trails anywhere else is at risk of the land owner or land manager deciding to disallow mountain biking - like what happened with Oasis trail and many others trails in Rossland. We have a great relationship with RMR: they are super supportive and very unlikely to cancel their access, and are unlikely to log the areas where we would like to build trails.

Second there are already some old trails to base our network on from the days when RMR ran bikes on their lift.  Building onto these trails and connecting them into an extensive trail network is going to be key to creating a network that flows seemlessly and is appropriate to all ages and riding levels.

Finally, in the long run, mountain biking can be a viable business for RMR where they fund trail maintenance and new trail construction. If we can show them bikers will come to the resort to climb up and ride down I hope they will join us in the creation of the network.

Enjoy our trails, be courteous to other riders, and ... every time you see someone from RMR thank them for providing access.

Have a great ride.

Nate
